Our boards and the finishes we offer

Reclaimed or new

A reclaimed scaffold board is one which has been used in actual scaffolding. Every board is totally unique and may have signs of its previous life, scratches, small grooves, dents etc, great for extra character and if you are after that classic, rustic look, the these boards are for you.

If you are after a cleaner, more uniformed look, a new board may be for you. If you require a cleaner look, please leave us a message in the comments box during check out.

We carefully selected each board whether reclaimed or new to ensure it is fit for furniture, they are then cut to size, sanded to a smooth finish, before applying the finish of your choice

Sanded, no finish applied

Not sure which finish you prefer? Maybe you need to match other furniture in your home? We understand your dilemma, whilst we do other a range of finishes and colours, these are not always to everyone’s taste. If you would prefer to add your own finish, we offer all of our products in a “sanded but unfinished” state.

Danish Oil

Danish oil is our preferred choice of finish for our scaffold boards. Danish oil is an excellent choice because it penetrates the wood, enhancing its natural grain and provides a durable, low-lustre satin finish which is hardwearing, waterproof and food hygiene friendly. Danish oil also comes in a range of shades.

Whitewashed

A whitewash look is ideal for those seeking a nautical look.

Burnt wood effect

A burnt wood effect, known as “Shou Sugi Ban” is created by charring wood with a torch and then wire brushing it to expose the grain. This technique can be applied for both aesthetic and practical purposes, resulting in a rich, textured finish that is resistant to water, insects, and fire.
